After 120 years devoted to wine culture in body and soul, we now have 210 hectares of vineyards in the municipal areas of Aldeanueva de Ebro, Alfaro, Azagra and San Adrián. All our vineyards are protected by the Rioja Qualified Denomination of Origin.
The grape varieties we grow are those traditional to Rioja wine and on which the prestige of the Denomination is based: Tempranillo (65%), Garnacha (20%), Graciano (5%), Mazuelo (5%) and Viura (5%). They grow in the soil most characteristic of the Denomination (calcareous clay), at a height of 400 metres.
Extreme weather conditions (cold, wet winters, dry, hot summers) and rainfall of less than 300 litres per square metre provide a perfect combination for quality grapes, used to produce great wines. The quality of the wine produced is also helped by the fact that the average age of our vineyards is between twenty and twenty-five years, ideal from the quality perspective, some vines exceeding the age of fifty.
All our vineyards have been transformed from the goblet-trained to the trellis-trained system with a large amount of vegetation exposed. This makes for vines of great physiological balance, producing well ripened grapes with outstanding oenological potential. Our plots use an automated drip irrigation system, which leads to higher quality grapes without increasing the yield.
